Research

I am an associate professor at the department of sociology at Utrecht University. Earlier, I’ve worked at Tilburg Universtity and Stanford University. My research interests are rather broad. As a general rule,  I try to advance sociological knowledge by developing and applying systematic theory, often in the form of formal models. Most of my current work is concerned with social networks and social dilemmas, but I’ve also worked on social inequality, education, inter-firm relations, en methods.   My complete CV (which might not be perfectly up-to-date) is here.

Part of this website is dedicated to a small hobby-project of mine: the development of tools for social network analysis in Stata.
