Science recently published a series of articles on a very interesting study on social learning. Using an evolutionary Axelrod-style tournament, the authors show that under a wide range of conditions, it is better to learn from others than to innovate by yourself. The competing strategies in the tournament were submitted by researchers from around the world, including my colleagues and me. My colleague Michał Bojanowski writes about our submission (which ranked 9th in the overall results) on his blog.
